Oh my yes

October 5, 2006

As the About Joel Shit page states, the history of Joel Shit dates back to 1988, when Travis the Mormon cleverly used this moniker as an opportunity for him to swear “for free.”

About twice a year, I dig out a list of names to search for on the Web. (I use Yahoo! because Yahoo! does the job and has always done the job in the 11 years that I have used it. Google is a proper noun only, and I have no use for it.) Travis is on that list.

So guess what I find? http://www.volunteersolutions.org/vccc/org/20401544.html

I left him a voice mail. We’ll see whether he calls me back. The best part will be when he finds out about this site and wants to know why I refer to him as “Travis the Mormon.” (I had not yet met Minnesota Viking wannabe Travis Taylor of Davis, CA.)

My Web presence is dying. Searches for “Joel Edelman” just aren’t turning up as much as they used to. C’est la fromage.

Free time off

October 5, 2006

I mentioned to my boss that I was only going to be out of town December 11-21, but I had requested the 11th to the 22nd off. My boss approved it, but now my boss wants me to be in the office on the 22nd because I won’t be out of town.

So I am going to take nine days off, work one day, and then get the next two business days off (12/25-26) because they are company holidays.

And because it is the day before a holiday, we will only work half a day anyway, and I am going to spend the whole day reading nine days of e-mail, which I was going to do anyway.

Part of me hopes I don’t get either job so I can stick around and get a free day of vacation. Of course I will give back the 22nd and work it. I provide some sort of security to my boss by being online, I guess, even if I am not actually doing any work (not that I would ever do that).
