I was here on business, and bitching about my company accomplishes little, so I will focus on the little gambling I did.
On the 17th, we had a corporate dinner at Tao at Venetian. They rented the whole place out for us. That must have been expensive. I can see why people like Tao. Those bastards don’t even have sparkling water. Whatever.
Halfway through a group of us skipped out and went to Casino Royale to play $3 craps. I won $13 playing the don’t.
On the 18th, we had a banquet in one of the convention rooms at Rio, so afterward some of us went and played craps. My $100 lasted five rolls, because the rolls went: 4, 4, 6, 8, 6. Damn the don’t and 3x4x5x odds, which for a don’t bettor means “put 6x out every time.” However, this was just part of a longer run by the table, including when a coworker held the dice for a half hour. People made tens of thousands while we watched my coworker roll dem bones. He got kicked down almost a $100 to go with his $449 profit. We’re happy for him. I am too. If I had bought in for more, it could have changed the way he stood because I had been standing right next to him for those five brief rolls, and it would have affected the range of motion of his rolls, thus affecting what would have come up. He doesn’t understand dice setting or anything like that. It was just a nice coincidence that he rolled so many numbers.
I am sitting at the airport at McCarran right now, and I just want to say that people should not be eating noisy snack food with their mouths open in public places. When people stop doing this, I will stop passing gas in these same public places. I think that’s fair. Anyway…
On the 19th, a different coworker and I played 4-8 in the poker room. I won $145, and he lost $200. I went on a huge rush when I sat down and then went sideways the rest of the way. I went through three dealers without winning a hand in fact, but that’s okay. A nice profit for 2 1/2 hours of work.
And today I played for four hours at the same game and won $20. I was up more, but I had aces cracked twice and also lost with kings and queens. I was dealt 10s four times. I flopped two sets which was nice. I have no complaints. I just wanted to kill time. The players at Rio are not good, and the dealers are pretty nice. I will play there again in July when I cash my winning Patriots +3.5 ticket (see post in Fezzik’s place).
And a memo to Southwest: “deplane” is not a verb!
OK, time to begin preboarding. (Get on before you get on? I stole that from George Carlin.)
