Dennys Reyes got the save yesterday, but it was because of who was batting. Jason Motte is still the closer for now.
Geovany Soto may end up on the DL, meaning Koyie Hill would be the starter.

April 10, 2009Fantasy Baseball Strategy Guide and News for 9 April 2009 (Issue 18)
April 9, 2009Jarrod Saltalamacchia was lightheaded and left the game early last night. Perhaps the extra weight from the back of his jersey caused his equilibrium to be all out of whack. Taylor Teagarden, who has a name made for the Red Sox, will fill in for the Rangers if he can’t make it.
The on-again-off-again rumors about Ichiro batting third this year are on again. When he returns from ulcer problems (about a week and a half), he should be driving in more. Despite the perception that he has power when he wants to, he does not have a noticeably higher HR/AB ratio while batting third. (He’s done it 51 times.)
Fantasy Baseball Strategy Guide and News for 8 April 2009 (Issue 17)
April 8, 2009Mike Redmond injured his groin and would be replaced by Jose Morales if he can’t go.
Even though Brendan Ryan started at second base on Opening Day, Skip Schumaker is the starter.
Fantasy Baseball Strategy Guide and News for 7 April 2009 (Issue 16)
April 7, 2009Marco Scutaro bat leadoff yesterday. This is worth looking into.
Otherwise, don’t overreact by Opening Day. Aces always get hammered. Some no-name always gets four hits. Stay the course. April should only be used to make minor tweaks. Don’t drop a veteran unless he loses his job. If there are still problems in May, that’s when you start dropping players.
Fantasy Baseball Strategy Guide and News for 6 April 2009 (Issue 15)
April 6, 2009Jordan Schaefer hit a home run in his first major league at-bat and is the starting center fielder for the Braves. He’s a good pickup for steals, however, not power.
While Ichiro is on the disabled list, Endy Chavez will bat leadoff.
Josh Anderson will start in left field for the Tigers.
Jason Hammel was traded to the Colorado Rockies, where he will pitch in the rotation. This means Jeff Niemann will be the No. 5 starter in Tampa Bay.
Austin Kearns will start in right field, not Elijah Dukes.
James MacDonald will be the No. 5 starter for the Dodgers but should only be considered in NL-only leagues.
Fantasy Baseball Strategy Guide and News for 5 April 2009 (Issue 14)
April 5, 2009Brad Penny is the fifth starter for the Red Sox.
Chris Getz will bad leadoff part time.
Fantasy Baseball Strategy Guide and News for 4 April 2009 (Issue 13)
April 4, 2009Jordan Schafer is the starting center fielder for the Braves. He was suspended while in the minors for drug use (the performance enhancing kind), and he has never played at AAA.
Emilio Bonifacio will bat leadoff, which means Cameron Maybin will bat eighth.
With Scott Baker on the disabled list, R.A. Dickey will be the fifth starter. This is the guy who resurrected his career by learning a knuckleball.
Ryan Sweeney will bat leadoff for the A’s.
Jeremy Affeldt will not close for the Giants after all. Brian Wilson is fine.
Fantasy Baseball Strategy Guide and News for 3 April 2009 (Issue 12)
April 3, 2009With Julio Lugo and Mark Kotsay injured, expect their at-bats to go to Chris Carter and Nick Green. In situations like these, a benchwarmer that gets hot can suddenly find a starting job, no matter who it is, so keep an eye on the box scores while this gets sorted out.
With Rich Hill injured, Mark Hendrickson will be the fifth starter for the Orioles, but he should only be considered in AL-only leagues.
With Phil Dumatrait injured, Jeff Karstens will start for the Pirates.
With Brian Wilson injured, Jeremy Affeldt will start the season at closer for the Giants.
Anibal Sanchez will be the fourth starter for the Marlins. Andrew Miller will be the fifth starter but should only considered in NL-only leagues.
Khalil Greene may be in the middle of the batting order this season.
With Troy Glaus injured, David Freese will play at third for the Cardinals.
With Joe Mauer injured, Mike Redmond will start at catcher for the Twins.
Huston Street has won the closer battle in Colorado over Manny Corpas.
Josh Outman will be the No. 5 starter in Oakland, not Sean Gallagher, but should only be used in AL-only leagues.
Fantasy Baseball Strategy Guide and News for 2 April 2009 (Issue 11)
April 2, 2009Shane Loux has made the starting rotation, but he is pretty old for a rookie after 12 years in the minors, so don’t expect much.
Austin Kearns should get the starting job over Elijah Dukes, but the play is to pass over both, and as soon as Kearns gets hurt, pick up Dukes, who will then start for the rest of the year.
Horacio Ramirez will be a fifth starter, but he is not fantasy-worthy. Same story with Sidney Ponson, except he will be a No. 4. And although it is not clear, it really does not matter what slot Kris Benson takes, although he will be starting too.
Fernando Rodney will close for the Tigers.
Fantasy Baseball Strategy Guide and News for 1 April 2009 (Issue 10)
April 1, 2009Russell Branyan should be the starter at first base for the Mariners.
Rick Porcello should make the Tigers’ rotation at the expense of Nate Robertson.
Brett Gardner is the starting center fielder for the Yankees.
Chan Ho Park will be the fifth starter for the Phillies but should only be considered in NL-only leagues.
Jorge Cantu got the starting job at first, and Emilio Bonifacio will be the third baseman for the Marlins.
Brad Ziegler is closing for the A’s with Joey Devine out.
Cha Seung Baek is on the DL and will be replaced by Kevin Correia.
Sidney Ponson will be the fourth starter for the Royals but should be considered in AL-only leagues.
Emmanuel Burriss will start at second base for the Giants.
